Cat - Sitting - © Jane Eborall

This is one of a series of three patterns showing cats in three positions.  The cat below was worked in no. 20 thread and measures 4 ¼” x 2 ½”.

Abbreviations

SR

split ring Lj lock join using shuttle thread RoSR ring formed on second part of SR
Lp long picot Wsh1 working shuttle 1 Wsh2 working shuttle 2
vlp very long picot ^ very small picot p or picot
btwn between +B add beads to picot Cl close

The instructions given are for two colours which will need three shuttles for the face only (two used at a time).  For the eyes I used short bugle beads, 2 for each eye and 3 for the mouth.  The simplest way to avoid a knot at the beginning of the face is to work R1 (covering the shuttle thread with the first few ds) and then reversing the work, wrapping Wsh2 thread round the Wsh1 thread and starting R2 (again covering the shuttle thread with the first few ds).  Continue as usual with SR3.  The cat is worked in three parts.
