The tree measures just under 3” in height by 1 Ύ” at it’s widest when worked in a no. 20 thread.  Beads are needed and two shuttles. 

 

Skills required.  Split rings, using beads in place of picots and adding beads to picots, ring on split ring

Making the 'Over The Top' (OTT) join - Sh2 thread is shown in a different colour in order to make the join clearer

Using a hook, take Sh1 thread under the picot joining the next two SR’s. Bring it up into the next space thus forming a loop.  Fig. 1 Take both shuttles through this loop and carefully tighten the loop using Sh1.  Fig. 2

 

Tree – add 16 red beads, 9 gold and 16 red beads to Sh2.  Using Sh1

Making the first join of the trunk

Bend the tree back to make the picot accessible and in order to make the 1st join of R1 of the trunk easier.
