Attaching Tatting to CD’s |
1. Make a paper template of the CD and then place piece of tatting centrally onto this.
2. 2. Mark where you want to attach the tatting to the CD with a pencil (each mark should be through a picot). 3. Sellotape the paper template to the FRONT of the CD (ie the plain side). |
| 4. Take
a needle and holding this in a pair of pliers, heat until red hot in a
gas flame.
5. Push the needle through the paper and CD at the marked spots. See fig. 2 |

6. 6. Remove the paper and ‘sew’ the tatting onto the CD with a strong sewing thread. Bring the needle from the back, through the picot, over and back down through the same hole. Run the thread along the back of the CD to the next hole. Continue until the tatting is firmly attached. See fig. 3

7. 7. Group CD’s together (1 in middle and 6 round outside) and using adjacent holes (or make new ones), ‘sew’ them together. This will give a ‘floppy’ group. See fig. 4
8. 8. To make the group more stable, take a metal coat hanger, straighten and then re-bend so that the bends are at the joins between CDs – see diagram.
9. Catch the coat hanger to the back of the group by tying over the threads holding the CD’s together. See fig. 5
Make a final hole at the top of the group from which to hang the display.
