For a square and triangle shape which also 'fit' with the diamond please visit this page.  Please note that the square, triangle and diamond shapes can all be worked together by joining sides and end rings as you progress.

Each motif measures 2 1/4" x 1 1/4".  Should you need any further help with this pattern please email me.

Abbreviations
Wsh1 working shuttle 1 Wsh2 working shuttle 2 SCMR self closing mock ring
Cl close Btwn between T & C Tie and cut
Fp false picot (space left to represent the same amount of thread as a picot)   DNRW do not reverse work

2 shuttles required and the same thickness of thread throughout.

NB – I have used italics (and red text) where those who like to do ‘front side, back side’ tatting need to reverse the order of working double stitches.  This does not apply to the second side of a regular split ring.

Joining diamonds to each other

Remember that rings 2 & 10 always join to other rings 2 & 10 and that rings 6 & 14 always join to other rings 6 & 14.

Border

Each ring is 2 – 2 – 2 – 2 and chains are 8

On straight edges make ring, chain, ring, chain etc.

When coming to an internal ‘corner’ make a clover of three rings.

When working an outer point work three rings into outer picot.

When working the long sides work extra rings where shown in fig. 3
