The elephant is made in three parts which are joined as work progresses.  Knowledge of split rings is required. 

 

Materials Required

No. 20 thread, two shuttles and one bead for the eye.

Starting with the ear the work is then followed along the back, down the back legs, under the belly and up to the chin via the front legs.  The tusk is worked next and then finally the trunk starting at the end.  The trunk is then taken under and over the tusk to the head which finally joins to the ear.

Two shuttles are used throughout.

Tail

Using end nearest to working shuttle finger tat 8 ds.  Knot, cut and fray ends to make tuft at end of tail.  Take shuttles as before and continue to

Take Wsh1 thread in front and Wsh2 thread behind trunk (space betwn SR3 & R4) tie single knot to anchor and continue with
