Materials required:– 2 shuttles wound with white thread.  6” orange/yellow thread.  1 small bead on Sh#1.  The completed swan measures approx. 1 ¼" x 1 ¼".

Skills required – split rings, Victorian 'sets', ring on chain.

seta first half of double stitch worked four times
setb second half of double stitch worked four times    

 

Starting at head with Sh1

Head

Keep bead on core thread until needed and then move to lie next to last ds worked.

R1:    4 (add beak see figs 2 & 3) 2 B 8 SS

Neck

Ch:    (seta setb) x 4 vsp (seta setb) x 3 Rw

Body

SR2:  10 / 4 Rw SS

SR3:  8 Lp (¼”) 2 / 6

SR4:  2 + (SR3) 4 / 6 Rw

Ch:    4 vsp 1 SS

RoCh:          1 + (vsp on last Ch) 4 Lp – 4 vsp 1 SS

Ch:    1 + (vsp RoCh) 1

R5:    6 + (R3) 6

Ch:    2 – 2 – 2 – 2 – 2 – 2

R6:    6 + (R3) 6

Ch:    6 + (vsp on first Ch) 2

R7:    6 + (R3) 6

Ch:    8 + (space btwn SR2 & SR3) T & C

Cut the orange threads to form a beak.
